Harmony Day 2026
Harmony Day 2026
All Saints finally had the opportunity to celebrate Harmony Day on Thursday, after our initial plans were washed out by rain. It was also the first time this year that our entire student body came together in one gathering fittingly, for a celebration centred on inclusivity, unity, and belonging.
With a beautiful, sunny day setting the scene, it truly felt like the perfect moment to come together as one community. This year’s Assembly was especially meaningful, as we incorporated a series of live cultural performances and personal reflections from both students and staff.
One of our staff members opened the morning by sharing her South African heritage, offering a heartfelt insight into her culture and teaching the students some South African words.
Our English Coordinator followed with a fantastic rendition of an Australian poem, adding a vibrant and uniquely local touch to the program.
Throughout the Assembly, five of our Year 5 girls delivered thoughtful speeches about what Harmony Day represents, each speaking proudly about their own individual heritage.
We also heard from four students representing Indian, Swedish, Pakistani, and colonial Australian backgrounds, who each brought their own perspective to our shared message of unity. Adding to the richness of the celebration, two of our very talented staff members performed a beautiful musical duet that filled the space with warmth and connection.
This was followed by an Irish blessing delivered in Gaelic by an Irish staff member, an unforgettable moment that highlighted the beauty and diversity of the languages within our community.
The celebration concluded with our much-loved cultural dress parade. Students who wore their traditional cultural clothing represented their families and backgrounds with pride, filling the school grounds with colour, joy, and stories from around the world.
Those who were not in cultural attire joined by adding a simple touch of orange, an important Harmony Day symbol and a reminder that small gestures also strengthen our sense of belonging. Whether dressed in traditional clothing or wearing a splash of orange, every student played a part in creating an atmosphere of acceptance and celebration.
The Assembly was a vivid reflection of the values we uphold at All Saints: every person is valued, every culture enriches us, and every act of kindness strengthens our community. Harmony, inclusion, and respect are not just themes for a single day they form the foundation of who we strive to be every day at All Saints.
