Bring Your Own Device Program
Under the BYOD Program, all students in Years Five and above are required to bring their own computing device to school each day.
To ensure that we maximise student learning with the device, the personal computing device needs to meet our Minimum Device Specifications.
There are two ways that families can purchase a device:
-
Families can independently purchase, from a retailer, a device that meets the school’s minimum specifications.
-
Alternatively, families can utilise the school device purchase portal to purchase a new device if required.
The School has partnered with CompNow, an experienced and reputable education provider for families to purchase a device that meets all our minimum requirements.
Purchasing devices independently or using a pre-purchased device
If you have recently purchased a device for your child and it is less than three years old, it will most likely meet the minimum specification requirements; however, you are encouraged to ensure that it does meet the requirements specified below.
We recommend that if you are bringing a device already owned:
-
That it is still under warranty.
-
That it can maintain battery charge for a typical school day.
-
That it has Accidental Damage Protection. If not check whether any damage could be covered under any house or contents insurance you may have.
Incompatible Devices
All Saints Anglican School has determined that all Chromebook devices and tablet device without a physical keyboard, e.g., an iPad, is not suitable to sufficiently deliver all the desired learning outcomes for students in Years Five and above and therefore will not be supported as part of the BYOD Program. Only devices with the recommended hardware and operating systems will be supported by The School.
Device Minimum Requirements
We strongly recommend that student devices meet the following minimum requirements to ensure their school learning experience is maximised. All Saints IT staff will load software onto the device at the beginning of each year that will assist student learning. This is why we specify minimum requirements.
IMPORTANT- PLEASE DO THIS BEFORE BRINGING IN THE LAPTOP
Please have the laptop in a ready state before commencement. This means once purchasing the laptop, remove it from the box and power on the device. Follow the on-screen steps to set up the local/computer account for the student (This is separate from the School account). Once the computer has been set up, it can be brought to the school to set up the school account.
